All Taiga exterior preserved wood products go through a complete quality control process from start to finish. We treat all of our wood material to protect against termite attacks and fungal decay, lengthening its serviceable life and extending the benefits of wood even further.

Taiga supports and encourages sound forest practices and the effective management of the forest resource for future generations to enjoy. Since 2007, Taiga’s Envirofor treating plants in Alberta, British Columbia, and Ontario have been certified by Environment Canada and Wood Preservation Canada.

Taiga uses two different wood chemicals to preserve our wood products in Canada, based on the location of our treating plants. Our western treatment plants in Edmonton and Langley preserve wood with Copper Azole Type B. Natural green treatment is enhanced with brown Tanatone Colour Technology. Our eastern treatment plant in Monetville preserves wood with Viance Preserve CAB enhanced with Designwood brown colourant. Frequently Asked Questions

What type of screws and fasteners do you recommend?

When working with treated wood, we recommend using building code-approved, corrosion-resistant fasteners and connectors, such as stainless steel or hot-dipped galvanized screws. For coastal installations, we recommend using code-approved stainless steel.

How do you preserve wood?

We use Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) approved chemical solutions to preserve our wood and ensure our treatment process is up-to-date with the current CSA Standards. These chemicals protect the wood from termite attack and fungal decay.

Is all treated wood created equal?

No, treated wood is typically available in above ground applications, ground contact/freshwater applications, and in in permanent wood foundations. Be sure to use the correct product for the appropriate end use.
